#16 – Deep Rolodex
The sixteenth characteristic of the man of God whom we seek is that he will be able to identify other men of integrity, both domestically and internationally, to be used for the same purpose.
As discussed in #9 above, this leader will be a natural networker, knowing his way around the ecclesia, both on and away from the “religion and faith mountain.” In his “travels,” then, he will have identified and befriended other leaders like himself, who operate in integrity with God’s principles first and foremost. His “Rolodex” will be full of the names of other leaders, so that, when faced with a situation requiring additional resources of wisdom, Godly authority, communications, materiel, associations, etc., he will know just who to call.
What is more, he will be uninhibited in reaching out to those he knows to best accomplish the purposes to which God has set him.
See, in an organization that depends on volunteers to operate, the ability and willingness – indeed, the drive – to reach out and bring in more volunteers is critical. It is, in fact, the first priority of leadership – right up there with “put your own oxygen mask on first.”
As mentioned previously, this is a team task. A robust team has both a strong bench and a steady influx of new member prospects. And, like the old saying, “it’s not what you know; it’s who you know” that counts.
So what is the shape of your contact list, and what is the state of your passion to pull other people into the thing that God has called you to do?
